Product Description
The newest chapter of the Paper Mario story isn’t just out of this world…it’s out of this dimension! What at first glance appears to be a 2-D sidescroller ripped straight from the stylized pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a hilarious dimension-shifting platformer possible only on Wii! 2-D...AND 3-D! Run through vibrant 2-D worlds, stomping on enemies and breaking blocks....then, with the press of a button, flip into 3-D! In the 3rd dimension, you'll find hidden paths, battle foes, and uncover secrets as you explore the previously invisible depth of the 2-D landscapes! Unique Wii controls! Hold the Wii Remote sideways and control the game in classic Super Mario Bros. style! You can shake the Wii Remote to pull off stylish moves and break out of frigid ice and even point directly at the screen to get helpful hints from your sidekick. Not only that, but you'll also play as Peach and Bowser, both with their own sets of essential skills. Hilarious adventure! When a mysterious villain kidnaps Peach and Bowser and forces them to get married, their union creates a rift of dark energy that threatens to tear the universe apart! Hilarious characters, laugh-out-loud plot twists, and unforgettable dimensions await as Mario makes his way through eight worlds, each more memorable than the last!

1 out of 5 stars Disappointment   August 10, 2010

My wife recently bought a wii for the wifit, and I decided to get some games for myself. I haven't played video games for at least ten years and was kind of excited to revisit something from my past. The first two games I played were the Super Mario Galaxy games, which I'm coming to realize, may have ruined all other wii games for me.

Super Paper Mario cost me about the same as each of the Galaxy games, so I was expecting something of similar quality. I wasn't expecting the same type of game, but something that had the same amount of development effort behind it. Well, imho, this game just doesn't compare. In fact, next to the Galaxy games, this one looks like it is 15 years old.

First, there isn't much in the way of game play. And what game play there is, is really easy. It seems to be about 40% story, and I found the story boring and painfully unfunny. I suppose if you were buying it for a child between the ages of 6 and 9, it would be suitable. But as an adult, I couldn't press 'a' fast enough to get through the exposition.

The graphics are very minimal and very 1990's. In fact, if I didn't know better, I would have assumed that this was a game from the 1990's. The game play is just hop, stomp, & turn. And the 3-D parts of the game aren't really 3-D. Also, the 3-D parts make up only a very small part of the game.

So, if you're looking for more Super Mario Galaxy wonderfulness, you won't find it here.

5 out of 5 stars Hours and hours of fun   August 8, 2010

My wife and I went through the game separately. A lot of good memories since this is the first Wii game we played. Very nice yet not two shallow storyline. Lots of fun.

The item was on time and with the quality I expected, my children are playing the game and getting fun time, that is the perfect gift for summer vacation.

I didn't play the original Paper Mario, but I did play Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for Gamecube. I have to say, the Gamecube version is harder. I was surprised to have beaten the game in less playing than it took me to finish the other.

However, this game is really fun to play! I like the unique storyline (they're collecting 8 Pure Hearts this time instead of Crystal Stars. That's the only obvious similarity.) and the cool graphics. The music is okay, nothing special. People say it's really text-intensive? It is, I guess, but it didn't bother me as much. The characters are awesome (villains, particularly. I like Nastasia) and so are the worlds.

The only truly negative thing about this game is the MAZE LEVELS. How I hate them so.

Overall, I think it's a good buy.

4 out of 5 stars Easy Mario   July 17, 2010

I was expecting this to be horrible based on the reviews, but I thought it wasn't that bad. I didn't play the original Paper Mario though.

The game is pretty easy. You can beat everything without dying and you won't get stuck trying to figure out a puzzle.

The only annoying thing was the DIALOGUE. I was ready to turn the game off in the beginning because it was 15 minutes of talking and you cannot skip through it.

Super Paper Mario is easy enough for kids and nice for adults who enjoy Mario. It's not an extremely challenging game so it works when you want something light and non-stressful to play. They should have fixed the excessive talking though =/
